Lookalike audiences

Lookalikes help you find new users statistically similar to your best customers or subscribers and scale performance media when a narrow base is tapped out. Platforms build a model from a seed list (purchases, leads) and expand reach to “similar” people; the similarity band trades reach for homogeneity.

What it is

Seed quality is everything—blending cold traffic dilutes the model. Teams usually test a few similarity bands (e.g., 1–3% and 3–5%) and layer interests plus exclusions. In B2B, align the seed to ICP or you amplify noise, not best customers.

Why it matters for business

It bridges first-party depth and scale: you avoid purely cold targeting with zero quality signal. With a clean seed, lookalikes often lower the cost of finding new, relevant audiences.

How to apply it

Use clean CRM or conversion-event seeds. Test similarity percentages, add narrow geo or demo filters, watch overlap with organic. Pair with segmentation and CDP data when available.
